Default Crack in driver's side mirror

My wife noticed this <1 inch crack appeared from the bottom out of nowhere. It is behind the glass surface.

Anyone ever seen this or has any idea how this could have happened?

Wtf. I have the exact same crack in my drivers side. I have an oil change service coming up soon I was going to bring to the dealerships attention at that time. Mine showed up in December, 2024. I’m assuming it’s a stress fracture to do with the cold temp swings we had, I’m in Alberta. Drove the car in the morning to then come home, park it in the garage, to leave a few hours later to find it.

I believe you can change the glass. Has anyone done it before?

Dealership replaced just the glass mirror under warranty. New mirror is slightly different. Has a 2-3 mm edge around the mirror where it doesn’t have the auto dim material in it. Kinda irked as the passenger side is still the original and no longer matches. Stands out to me as I go back and forth between them while driving.

Had this same thing happen in my 2023 UX.

It's really bad and I left it unattended for awhile so now it is fully damaged and I can barely see out of it. Guessing it is a factory defect.
