Door handle replacement to enable Smart Access system?
Hello fellow UX owners! First please let me apologize for posting a somewhat technical question right off the bat as my first post.... I moved overseas for work and family reasons, and recently purchased a UX200 F Sport over here in Taiwan. Long story short, Lexus of Taiwan for whatever reason sells the UX200 F Sport model without the Smart Access function (it's not even available as an add-on option). I've tried to research on my own on how I could go about adding Smart Access back to the car, and since the Lexus dealers do not sell parts in Taiwan, so this would have to be a DIY project.
So far from the very limited information available, it seems like the weak radio wave transmitter for the Smart Access system is located in the door handles of the car. What I wanted to ask everyone for advice and help on is whether there may be other parts associated with "enabling" the Smart Access system in my car other than replacing the door handles with ones from say the US or Japan (places where Smart Access is standard). Also, if I were get my hands on these handle parts and install them, would I then need to use a software such as TechStream to "turn on" Smart Access, then find a way to pair my current key fob with the car, or would that step not even be necessary?
Sorry for the long post, and I would really truly appreciate any help on this issue if possible!
Thank you!!
