Smile UX Interesting Discoveries Thread - Good or Bad

As we spend more time as owners with our UX, there are some interesting features we discover, sometimes good, other times, not so good.

I'll kick it off with the following discovery, a panel beneath the front passenger seat, covering the VIN stamped on the car's floor pan. Furthermore, you see a thick layer of sound insulation which of course contributes to the relatively low road noise of the UX.

Here's a not so great feature of the car. Although it is a pants saver in winter by preventing snow buildup along the sill, the integrated door valence creates very little clearance above curbs. In fact, I had to let my passengers out before parking alongside the curb to gain that extra inch in ride height for the clearance.

I had an intermittent rattle somewhere in my driver door that was noticeable sometimes during music with bass and while driving on rough roads. Took it to the dealer, did a sound test and found the frequency that caused the sound. They took the inside door panel off and insulated it, the sound was coming from the arm rest. That fixed it.

The angle of the lower driver dash, below the trip button and above the hood release button, where the ASC button (F-sport model) and 3 other blank buttons are located (or 2-4 blank buttons). Great knee basher there.

The frame/plate number location is very reminiscent of a Mazda product.

Also, no cupholders in the rear door panel, while it's stablemate, the Corolla HB and CH-R, has door cup holders.

On the UX which has only two front door lock/unlock exterior sensors. When you slip your hand behind the driver door and it unlocks the drivers door, keep your hand there for 3 more seconds and the rear doors will unlock too.

Nice! Didn't know this. Will have to try it!

On this similar topic, no rear door sensors/locks in the exterior door handles unlike the NX/RX for instance.

Apparently if your UX is on runflats - you do not get the jack and wrench

Just got official response from Lexus_support: "Your vehicle is not equipped with a spare tire, but instead run flat tires. For this reason, your vehicle is not equipped with a jack and wrench."
So this block of foam is sitting in the trunk for no reason and eating up the space... Well, it is carrying the tow hook though.

They probably kept it there for the added sound insulation as well though they could have made it a couple inches thinner and given us more cargo height.

Only two cons thus far and not sure if it only pertains to mine..

1. When I shift into reverse, sometimes I have to push down on the gear selected twice with the foot on the brake, if I try it the first time- sometimes it wont let me shift in, but perhaps I'm not pushing on the brake hard enough, though I doubt it. Not the end of the world, but just odd.

2. Only happened once, my apple carplay showed half the screen when I plugged my iphone 8 in, I had to unplug the phone after exiting out of my Waze app, then plug it back in, then it worked fine.

I just notice something. Did Lexus not add a Tire Repair Kit?

I have noticed the same things. Don't know if it's supposed to be like this or what.

A few days ago, I drove around with the LCD display off. I noticed when the radio (AM) lose signal, the LCD will turn on and off for no reason. It's very annoying.

I'm not sure it's the daylight adjusting on the car, or Apple Carplay. I was driving with Waze around 6PM yesterday. When Waze switch from day mode to night mode, the entire instrument panel and LCD keep dimming and undimming, It keep doing it every 3-5 mins.
