Default Parking break issues UX 300H

I got my UX at the end of July 2024

At first the when I go into forward or reverse the parking break would stay on [even if I switch back and forth] not thinking I'd give it a bit of gas and it would start moving and the park break light would go out.
Soon I switched to just turning off the power to the car and restarting and all would be well

About once a week or so, I could deal. I went to the dealer, they said they never heard of this happening ever and being intermittent it would be very difficult to service. Not exactly thrilled with the response but maybe it will go away. He seemed to think it is no big deal as Lexus will tow the car in, but I live an hour away from the dealership and if the car dies at night, I am kinda boned.

In the last week [middle of Oct 2024] it's more frequent and it's happened the last two days in a row and now I even have to turn the car off and on again a few times to get the parking break to disengage.

Still intermittent but the car should not be doing that. Sadly I am sick with the plague and sleeping all day so I can't bring it in for about a week or so.

So my questions are thus

1: Any ideas of what might be causing this.

2: According to the manual, on manual you can turn off the parking break by gently pressing the accelerator. Did I screw up before doing this in auto mode.

3: I just noticed another parking break button [thanks manual] I assume I can use that to get things going again. How should I go about using it.

4 Any chance the corrosion Free rustproofing might have caused this? Had it done about a week after I got the car. I don't remember if it happened before I got it done, and if not how soon after. If it is the cause,

I'm curious whether you got this figured out.

If so, was it a canbus issue?

Still there but it seems to be happening less often. If going into park and then drive or reverse doesn't fix it, I use the parking break switch and that does the trick.
I took it in for the 8K km [5K miles] maintenance, the guy said they would do some checks, but never said anything when I got the car back. I assume they didn't do anything.
I might push harder next time I bring the car in but again though if it is easing, maybe it will go away on it's own. Also now that I am using the switch it's an easy fix.

Default Uhmmm...gimme a BRAKE!

Not trying to be a wise guy, but I thought for sure after all this time you'd realize that "break" is snot the proper homonym to be using in your thread.

It's BRAKE. 😉

Yeah you are right, it's snot.

In my defense, I am not much of a car guy so top of mind awareness.

I had a similar but opposite issue with my LC - it would disengage when I parked, vs. actually engaging even though I had the Parking brake switch activated - turns out it was the fuse and I had to pull it out, replug it back in along with disconnect and reconnecting the battery. That solved it, at least for me.
