I can see Google Maps navigation in the HUD, but how do I get Waze to show up in the HUD? Do I need to download Waze to Apple Car Play?

I do not see Google in the HUD, only the built-in Lexus Nav. Google will show on the instrument panel. If you have Waze on your phone, go into the Android Auto settings and Customize Launcher to make sure you see it in AA. Googling the issue, some people get it for GM, some do not. I never have, and I have a Google Pixel phone, Full HUD display.

 

I've got an iPhone, not Android so I'm wondering if I need to download Waze into Apple Car Play if that's even possible?

 

Sorry , missed that you wrote Carplay. CarPlay just mirrors your phone. If it is installed on your phone, it is in CarPlay. I do not think it will show up in the HUD. Apple Maps seems to be the only one that does. To be clear, by HUD you mean the reflection in the windshield, right? All work on the main display in the car, just start the one you want to use.

 

Yes, I mean the HUD display in the windshield. I think you might be right. I have not used Apple Maps. Waze shows up on the big screen, just not in the HUD. Google Maps shows up in the HUD as I mentioned.

Same for me. When navigating in Google Maps in CarPlay, turns show up in the Lexus HUD.

 

The Waze app itself needs to support it. Google Maps recently added support for that, previously only Apple Maps used to work.

So you’ll need to go and ask Google for it.

I think you're out of luck there. But why use Waze at all? Google acquired Waze a few years ago and has incorporated Waze into Google Maps. For example, cops taking radar, disabled vehicles, etc. Its all in Google maps which is also far more accurate than Waze. Google announced it will not be adding new features to Waze.

 

I agree, the Google Maps/updates are now just as good as Waze.
