2026 550h+ constant beeping sound
The TX has no issues driving on the highway. But, we bought the plug-in hybrid version specifically for short trips around the city. During such trips, it has an extremely irritating habit of constantly beeping with an alert. The sound is faint, high pitched and very fast (6-10 beeps per second). I'm sure this is due to the detection alarms sensing that there are cars close to me when I'm driving in a lot of traffic. However, this is not something I can avoid - it's normal traffic. Yet the TX is alerting constantly. In order to stop this, I have to turn off cross traffic detection, front detection, and rear detection. It also seems to help to turn off lane assist. I suppose this is a solution, but in order to stop the constant alert, I am forced to disable several useful safety features.
I'm just wondering why Lexus would implement something so irritating and if there is a way to decrease the sensitivity. I don't need to be alerted nonstop that there are other cars around me when I'm driving 10-20 mph in a line of traffic.

When I took delivery of my 2026 TX500h SPL, I immediately went into the safety systems and did the same. It's fine now, too. One additional tidbit - I tried leaving driving assist ON in the TX and it was braking constantly, costing me significant MPG, even with regeneration. On the other hand, adaptive cruise control, lane assist/auto lane change work VERY well and traffic jam assist is SOMETIMES useful. I leave parking assist on ALL the time. This WILL warn you of a bike directly next to your car or another vehicle or pedestrian trying to edge by when moving slowly, as at lights.
You picked a great vehicle - but its systems do have a learning curve. Once you get to know them, they simply work, with no major "glitches" so far in ours. I even like the steering wheel touch controls now that I'm used to them.
I do think I get some soft audible alerts like you describe but only in specific situations. For example I think it will do this if I signal a lane change and there’s a car near me. Similar with cross traffic but it really needs to be cross traffic.
I definitely don’t get constant warnings, either audible or visual.
when I got my TX, the dealer sent a tech to my house that showed me how to use e everything. There were some things the changed saying “you’ll want it like this else …” They could very easily have changed a setting affecting this behavior.
I strongly suspect this is a setting not a fault. The sensors are doing their thing all the time. There is software somewhere deciding what to do with the sensor data. So, even if a sensor was false detecting, I would expect the software to ignore it when not appropriate.
Also, I don’t think this would be specific to the550h+.

I did a lot of troubleshooting before figuring this out. I turned off every safety feature, and although I had initially thought disabling them had an effect, it really didn't. It isn't one of the alerts on the menu. Driver alert sounds (for example the blind spot alert) is much lower pitched, louder, and slower. The beeping that I hear is constant, softer, faster, and high pitched. It is loudest at about 15-19 mph in heavy traffic.
Anyway, I will look into the submenus and see if I can turn down the sensitivity as @Stonebender suggests above. I can see that an alert sound is necessary outside the vehicle when driving in some places, but it seems excessive in rush hour traffic. What I find odd is that it is the loudest when I'm in heavy traffic but doesn't make much sound when I'm in a parking lot driving around people.
BTW I was finally able to figure out what this was by going into the local Lexus dealership 3 times and having people ride with me and also drive the car to hear the sound. Two of them were never able to even hear it. The third knew what it was right away. That 3rd person was a very experienced service manager, and he said that is likely the other people have learned to tune the sound out. Even though they probably were capable of hearing it, the sound didn't register with them because they have Lexus hybrids also. So, I agree with @Mtracer that this probably isn't specific to the TX 550h+.

The pedestrian warning speaker is federal requirement. you could wrap the speakers under the car to muffle it or get a bypass resistor to completely turn it off without the car throwing alerts.
