Default Lexus App

What is up with the Lexus App? I got a notification when I tried to open it today (to read about the umpteen recalls on my 2024 TX) and I got a message about having to have a password-protected phone in order to use the app "for security purposes." I've never had to do that before. It only gave me that message once, and now I am just getting a black screen with the Lexus logo. So much for their cool app. Lol.

Irrelevant.

You need to protect your phone with either biometrics or a PIN - and I'd suggest BOTH. Because if the biometrics stop working (cut on your finger, etc.) the PIN will still provide access.

With a working phone, your drivers license and a credit card (common losses in purse thefts or pick-pocketing of males) a 3rd party can tamper with your credit reports, open new credit and credit card accounts, open new bank accounts, vote in your place, gain access to your existing bank accounts remotely, etc. This is because cellphones are now commonly used for two-factor authentication.

In addition, if you've enabled the digital key your phone can be used to steal your car - VERY easily. Because the app allows tracking of exactly where the car is (even if the digital key is NOT enabled), guiding the thief directly to the victims car. This is WHY the app REQUIRES phone security.

A very good friend recently had this happen, perpetrated by a VERY professional and well organized group stalking victims in a nearby mall and supermarket - and is still cleaning up the mess. The cards, license, etc. data were used within 15 minutes of the loss to do the above. NOT pretty.
