Default Used TX 350

Hi all,
We are looking at some used TX's. For those with their TX, any suggestions of things we need to look for? (besides typical used vehicle checks)

Thanks!

Don’t get one. Most problematic car I have ever owned. I tried to lemon it and they denied. I traded at the dealer for bmw after it went back 8+ times to the dealer for things going wrong in the first 19k miles over 11 months.

I legitimately cannot recommend it at all. Terrible idea. Get a traverse or a used Tahoe.

or better yet buy a brand new telluride or palisade. I drove the telluride this last week and it was really nice. Much better built than the Lexus. There is a reason it’s award winning.

also mpg sucks on tx350 and gas tank is too small. Only thing that is sweet is technology and the screens. That’s about it.

you’ve been warned. I have bought 8 cars in 9 years and this Lexus was the worst car hands down. 3x worse than any “problematic Audi” cars I’ve owned. That says something

There is a reason there are used tx on the lots after it only being available for 13 months. Think about it. If it’s that great of a car why would people be dumping it? I rest my case….

That's NOT completely true. There ae millions of reason why there are used vehicles on the lot when it was released just 13 months ago. I once traded in a new Tundra after owning it or 4 months I then traded in a Lexus after 11 months. Yes, your particular vehicle has issues (many issues) and one of the main reason is being 1st year model.

OP - Good luck

Yeah, ppl trade cars for other reasons than having problems. When I got mine a customer was trading theirs because it wouldn't fit in his garage. By the way I have 5200k and had it for 9 months with zero problems so far.

yeah 17k miles on mine and no problems.

obviously the folks who bought it and got rid of it didn't actually need the unique features it has. (Full size 3rd row)

if you aren't after that then there's so many options to satisfy other wants and needs.

you’re not wrong but if mine wasn’t at the dealer every month for something I probably would have kept it 2-3 years. Instead I kept it 11 months

Default Mine is Decent

I have a 2024 TX 350 Luxury AWD with 25k miles. It has performed well, but there have been multiple recalls (at least 3), I had the front driver's seat replaced, the rear seat folding mechanisms replaced, plus I am having the fuel door replaced (it sticks).

I have gotten decent mileage (around 23 mpg, combined), but I don't like paying for premium fuel for such a sluggish engine.

Having been a long-time Lexus buyer (including the dreamy LS 460 and the almost as dreamy ES 350 Ultraluxury), I have found the TX to be kind of a non-luxury experience. There is no wood in the cabin, and the materials are more mainstream than luxury, in my opinion.

Having said all of that, I plan to keep it.

This is how I got my 2025. In service date of June 30, they moved in the fall and could not fit. I got it when under 8K km.

You're right that's why the TX is the seventh most popular selling luxury SUV. You're right Lexus is number one in dependability for 25 and 29 years. GMC by the way is 20th. Three friends with TX's and all love them with zero problems.

Sorry you had a bad experience with the TX - and there were some teething issues with the early TX's - but as far as I know no one died in one due to defective design nor are they catching fire for multiple reasons, as with the Palisade. The TX350 gas tank size is 17.8 gallons, which will yield a real world highway cruising range of about 400 miles. The turbo-4 engine/drivetrain combo has had no serious issue across the Lexus/Toyota product lines and has been in use for years now. Yeah, while its quick in the RX350 its significantly slower in the much heavier TX350, but still incredibly efficient for a car with that capacity (80% of my old Gen II 5.7L V8 Sequoia - which got 11-19 MPG) that can tow 5,000 lbs.

When I bought mine (TX500h FSL), which has a slightly smaller gas tank, I heard all the urban myths about it only having 12-13 gallons of capacity. Yet I fill it up to 16-16.8 gallons just about every time, and the cas has never let me down.

So - as with ANY used car - buyer beware. The Lexus certified ones are less risk and come with a warranty, which minimizes that - and the main Lexus warranty package is quite long. Still - ALWAYS, ALWAYS drive, examine carefully and try before you buy a used vehicle.

As for buying a BMW - they are VERY nice drivers cars, almost everything is an extra option and mine was gone within five years because of many leaks, transmission issues and a host of smaller stuff that I've NEVER had to worry about on other cars. I've driven/owned plenty of GM cars over the years and feel no need at all to return. And i've also driven a number of Palisades as rentals - I travel a lot for extended periods - and am not impressed. One of the less attractive cars out there IMO, and with buggy SW - definitely less expensive, but terrible resale value if you're disappointed.

ALL cars have their issues. After having multiple Lexus/Toyota vehicles, I've found they're the ones I can usually rely on.

I think ICE cars hit their peak around 2018. Most new research is going into hybrids and electrics.

47% of Toyota and Lexus vehicles in 2026 are either hybrids or EV. Most new models are exclusively Highlander Venza RAV4 Sequoia Land Cruiser Sienna Crown Camry ES. In 2023 it was 29%.
