Agree that the felt works though it likely needs to be replaced periodically. It's an interesting fix for a luxury car.

This happened to my TX350 the day it was delivered at the dealership in Dec 2024. It has nothing to do with loading. A new back installed and plastic partially tore off again the next day. Now the plastic sticks up under the carpet when it is folded down. And the left side did it too, then jammed half way up and didn't today. Literally back at the dealers today.

This doesn't seem to be rocket science for anyone besides Lexus

LOL, exactly. But by ignoring the issue they save a ton of money.

Default Rocket Science

Lexus rushed with the TX - all new car only available in the US - they also debuted the GX in the dame year. In the past most cars debuted overseas and after they worked out the kinks they brought the models here.

I just re-fueled tonight, ahead of our North Carolina wintergeddon (2 birds fly over at the same time). Lol. Anyway, it took in excess of 30 tries to get my fuel door to open.

There is emergency release inside the car on the left side, but you have to pry off a plastic cover. Or you can take la drop of bicycle oil and coat the black rubber roubd thing and coat it and that should fix it temporarily

Lastly u can either install feltpad ot just stop by dealership and they should be able to fix it fairly quickly.

You dont want to be stranded on site of a road cuz u can open it.

Smile Cause of pop noise revealed with video

As the seat back moves forward there is a spring-loaded arm that moves a cam to pull the release cable for the headrest. If you listen closely, you can hear the headrest release just before the pop noise as the arm releases the cam. It's noisy, but I can't imagine that it's going to break any time soon.

I went to the dealer and they said it's the same issue on other TX models. As result, they said it's normal and would not work on it. Is there a TSB on it?

Default bulletin

As far as I know there is not a current service bulletin for this issue. Although the popping noise may be concerning, the headrest is released as the seat folds down. That is the purpose of the release rod and cam. It's operating as it should.

Thanks for confirming. I'll leave it as is then.

I have this same issue, so you are not alone. I can’t confirm this is normal. But this and other issues does speak to the decline in overall brand quality.

Here is the “fix”! 2 Dealers in So. Cal confirmed it’s the cables that operate the up/down mechanisms. Both have replaced the cables. I called 15 dealer service advisors in So. Cal, Crown Lexus and San Diego Lexus have repaired the problem. There is no Service bulletin out yet. We’re going to travel the 100 miles to one of these dealers to get it fixed since they have taken apart the 3rd row seats. Can’t trust my dealer who said it was non-replaceable springs….l

So you haven't "tried the Fix" ... yet? Please let us know how the repair goes and if it holds up. My seat pops on occasion, and I normally carry a full tub of gear in the rear cargo area - but no issues so far.
