Default Tire ripped from Auto-X?

Hey guys. I just got back from my first time doing an Auto-X. Let me tell you, that thing is a BUNCH of fun! I did about 8 laps before we actually did timed trials. But as i was looking over my car before i went out into the next heat, i noticed my front passenger tire looked a little cracked from the inside.

So i got in the car and turned the wheel to get a better angle. Low and behold there is a crack/rip all the way around the inside of the tire where the tread meets the sidewall. Deep enough to stick the your fingernail underneath the rubber. But, this is ONLY on the passenger side. The driver side tire was perfectly fine. Just a little chewed up from driving it hard.

What could have caused this? Is this something i need to get replaced or is it still safe to drive on?

Obviously i stopped racing for the rest of the day. I didn't want to risk the tire popping and damaging my rim.

Thanks for the help! The Tires are ACHILLES ATR SPORT 235/35/19 in the front. Pretty cheap tires, which may be the reason. I'm now looking for a cheap set of OEM rims and tires that i can beat on and not worry about my good tread getting messed up.

Could be manufacturer defect, shoulder separating from the sidewall.

Are your tires streched?

Nope not stretched at all. My rim size is 19x8 so 235 should be pretty standard.

Obviously tire defect. Get some Hankooks. There's a good review about it on here somewhere.

wouldnt drive on it at all more than you have to. it WILL eventually die, hopefully not while you're driving on the freeway.

i'd take it back to wherever you bought it from or contact achille's us office, it's unlikely you'll see anything back but it's worth a shot.

Yea, check to see what kinda of warranty they offer, if any. Cheaper tires are good for normal driving; continuous, aggressive driving is not good on these.

I bought them through a private seller who paid cash for them. So i'm out of luck about getting reimbursed. I'm just going to get a replacement Achilles for this side, then getting another set of rims with performance tires so i don't have to worry about using all the rubber on my good rims and the tire splitting again.

Can't really do much about cheap tires but to replace them. Why would you wanna track on cheap tires in the first place?

Because i'm a noob and don't really know anything about tires. Everyone was young once right? I'm not the only one. I didn't think that could really happen, i heard good stuff about Achilles.

Got any recommendations for a good cheaper priced tire for Auto-X's?

Cheap is relative.
Do you want something that will last you and not fall apart?
Or, do you want something sticky to actually compete with?

I'm not really too worried about the BEST performance and times. I'm just doing this to really learn how to drive and have fun so something that will last me and not fall apart is what i'm looking for right now.
