What's the benefit of different size (height) front / rear wheels?

Default What's the benefit of different size (height) front / rear wheels?

What I'm asking about is different height front wheels vs. rears. I've generally seen this on two-door sports cars, like Lambo or NSX but I just noticed the Cadillac STS-V has 18" front wheels and 19" rears. What's up with that? Why's it done?
