Default Q: is suspension bad?

Besides taking it to a shop, How can I tell what on my 2006 Lexus GS350 needs fixing for suspension? What is happening is sometimes when I go over speed bumps, I can hear a "thunk" sound as the front comes down. And if I have my kid in the back seat (lets say 100lbs) can hear the same sound now from the rear when the tire comes down from the speed bumps. If I go fast (not stupid fast), you don't hear it. I tried the push down on 4 corners of the car, which is harder than it sounds. But I don't notice anything strange. car goes down and up. I can't tell if it's mushy.

Besides that, it is about 85k miles (I think). How much does suspension cost? And going between aftermarket vs OEM, is pricing about the same now?

thanks.

Sounds like you've got bad struts. Replacement struts aren't too expensive ($90-$100 each), but the labor will add up. Can't say how much it'd be exactly, but you're probably best doing all 4 at once. Hope you get this figured out soon!

Maybe check for leaking on the struts? My struts are leaking after 170k mi. Stealer wants 366 ea/rear and 316 ea/front anyone know of some aftermarkets for stock ride and height? Autozone and o'reilly dont carry them.
