Default Coilovers

Ive searched around the forum and seen a lot of people are using springs since they want to keep the stock suspension dampening. Are there any of u out there running on coilovers? If so, which ones and how the ride quality?

There are a few members using RS-R and BC Racing coilovers.

Both are great and priced well

Are there weight advantages with the coilovers? Seems the oem shocks looks lightweight (except the spring).

So far I'm enjoying my RSR coilovers as well. 32 levels of dampening, so you can find what works best for you. I'm sitting at 15 and find it be close sport+ mode albeit slightly stiffer now.

I had BC's on 2013 and loved them, however on my 2014, i decided to run RSR Super Down and ran a fatter tire and what a dam difference. The BC's were nice but than you have to run a thin tire and it kills the ride.

When you say fatter, are you referring to the width of the tire or the sidewall? Do the coilovers require that you run a narrower tire because of space?

I'm curious, please explain.

Let me try to help answer your question. stock weight is heavier than average coilover setup. Weight does matter lighter is always better but has to be strong as well. Meaning the material used has to work both ways. for example we use 7075 aluminum instead of 6061. 7075 is what you call top tier aluminum.

We are currently finish up AVS compatible coilover setup for the GS Fsport model. these will be full 7075 aluminum. We have our current Lexus IS 3rd gen setup weighed at 17.5kg.

You can always ask the weight of the coilover and which material is used to the manufacture. They should be able to answer all your questions.

I hope this helps. good luck on your research

How much longer do you think the Avs compatible coilovers will be available? And a rough idea on the pricing? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on RSRs

The GS RWD Fsport AVS is estimated to be done right after we finish up the IS AVS model. estimated time is safe to say within a month.

Keep us updated. Do you happen to know if the OEM adjustments are only +/- 1 clicks? I think it is.
