What up guys...I plan on lowering my 3GS within the next couple of weeks. What price range should I be looking at? I live in S.Cali. Thanks.

Lowering coils is cheaper b/c everything is together, you just take out the old shock/strut and put the new one in. Replacing OEM wiht aftermarket shock/strut costs more as they have to compress a strut.

Independent shop can charge $250-$350. Lexus will charge around $450-$550

I paid about $170 with tax. They key is to find a shop that does this all the time, they're typically much less.

Lexus quoted me $1,000.

my dealership wouldn't install them at all. still debating. the tanabe springs cost about $250...and I think a local "customs" shop here said they would install them for $250...so roughly $500.

went to another local shop, who I think would do a better job, based on the clientele they have, and they quoted me $1,100. This includes the springs, installing the springs and a full alignment. Says the "book" quotes this as a 7 hour job....is this right???? This is with Tanabe NF210 springs...which I assume they are ordering from Tanabe directly. What I need to do is call back and get a price if I supply the springs myself.

i agree. he's the man. i swear, i brought my car in his shop and got it on the lift, started BS-ing and decided to go get something to eat with one of his buddies that was there, returned a while later and my ride was outside and dropped!!

im not gonna lie.....i went home and took the shock tower covers off in the rear to check out his work and see if everything was on the "up and up" so to speak!! i couldnt believe he killed that job so quick!!!

+1 for The MusicBox!

If you live in SoCal then you got it made. There are tons of shops that can install them for you. Many reputable shops charge 200-250. I wouldn't pay more than that. Moreover, just contact a vendor here who is selling coils and just pick them up and save on shipping charges.

I would have called that guy out on his bull**** immediately. He knows damn well that's not a 7 hour job. He's BSing you. My shop would do 8 cars for that price.
