Default To the experts: are springs worth it???

Hi all my Lexus brothers, It’s my birthday on the 29th and my wife is ordering springs for my 430. My question to all of you is , will springs hurt my car in terms of resale. I've modded cars in the past and they just weren’t the same after I did the mods. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Just keep the OEM ones and swap them back when you sell.

I just got off the phone with a dealer in AZ. They want $450.00 for the install. He said the labor hours were 2 Hrs in the front and 5.4 in the rear They said 5 hours in the rear didn't sound right. Any thoughts

They are probably going by what the "book" says it will take. On the other hand, with improved technology comes more things to move around when modding. If it took 4 hours to change out the suspension on my 95 sc I'm sure it's that or longer for a tech heavy newer car.

As for the spring issue, Tein has some new ones called luxury master. They might be okay. Generally, springs offer a harsher ride than coilovers. I'm sold on CO's but that luxury master does sound interesting. I may try them on my next ride.

Yes, springs help.
1. Tanabe is a well respected JDM manufactuer. THey did the research
2. A lower car=better handling and feel
3. It looks better. By 100 times. True modders drop.
4. Well they are worth it if you think they are worth it. There wont' be many lowered 3GS, let alone this early in the game. You would be super original.

I talked to Scottsdale Lexus today about the spring issue. My tech guy said there were sensors and it might be an issue. I should hear from him today if they can do the install.
Keeping my fingers crossed

Special thanks to Foofighter for all his help

good luck w/ that...the only sensors that i can think of are the autoleveling sensors which should be ok as they're designed to work within a range of sweep for the sensor arms. I'm not too sure about the Lexus, but on the Audi's i never had to worry about that when i lowered my cars. And if there were problems you would reset the sensors to "zero" again to give it a base to work from.

Sweet, just got off the phone with my guy at Scottsdale Lexus. The best Lexus dealer IMO. They are going to do the install next week.
I will post pics of the car and install as soon as I get my hand on it.

Springs for looks. Shocks and sways for handling improvement.

Depends what your goals are

I just put these Tanabe DF210's on, and it rides REALLY low. With 20's, a little fender work may be required. But overall, the look is nice!
