For me this is common for when my vehicles sit for extended periods of time outdoors....let's say a week or so without being driven, and during that time it may have been rained or snowed on once or twice.
Considering the pandemic, lockdowns, and remote working from home, you can expect to see more of this happening.
My suggestion is to drive it until the pads are worn out and then replace everything...cause it will happen again, so no point wasting money replacing parts prematurely.
Personally i get the parts ready ahead of time, and once the pads go metal to metal, or if I catch it just before that point, then I throw the new parts on right away.
