Default Thinking about getting low.

Greetings y'all, so I recently bought a 2016 IS300 and I'm thinking about lowering it about an inch all the way around. What would be the best way to get the drop I want and not sack ride quality? Thanks in advance for y'alls help.

The best way is Lexus F Sport blue springs. period. I had tein H TEchs.. not bad.. same drop (1") but they rode a tad on the stiff side. Lexus F Sport is supposed to retain as much RQ as possible. keep in mind though that by definition if you go lower you have to go stiffer so suspension travel is maintained (so you don't bottom out) just the nature of the beast.

thanks for the input. That's kinda the route I've been leaning toward I just dont know where to find them and also would it be a great idea to replace the struts at this time to or is it safe to only change the springs?

Putting springs on stock struts is fine as long as the struts are still in good shape. How many miles are on your stock struts? Personally if you are near or over 80k, or if there is any leaking. damage, or signs of them being worn out then I'd just go ahead and replace the struts at the same time

I put RSR Down spring on my stock struts @60k miles. I was pleasantly surprised with the ride quality. To me, they are very slightly stiffer than the stock suspension (which I like), but not by much at all. They feel great and not much different than the stock ride feel. I've ridden in other vehicles before that used lowering springs and thought they rode like crap / were bouncy. These, on this car, are not like that at all. They feel great imo.

In many of my previous vehicles, if I lowered them, I went with full coil-overs, but after a lot of research around here and other lexus communities, a lot of people had great things to say about these specific springs, so I figured i'd give them a shot and if I didn't like them I'd upgrade to coil-overs next, but I have zero complaints with them and no plan to change them.

The car has around 52k miles on it and I've also heard a lot of good things about the RSR Down springs too. Also I thought about doing coilovers but I dont want to spend the money on them.

^^ It is interesting to read about people's experience about RS-R springs - some have reported horrible experience while others love them! I wonder if it is a function of the vehicle? Like the RS-R are great for the IS, but maybe not as much for the (insert car model here)??

I’ve had mine since the car had 500 miles on it and I couldn’t imagine the car without them. I love the look and the ride is darn near stock. Just my .02

^^ I think the general consensus is that these are great on the IS - I have the RC and didn't install them given some of the stories I have read. I assume you went with the super-down?

I'm assuming the bad experiences you've read about were on completely different vehicles? I have not heard any complaints about RSR for the Lexus IS. I think you are right about experiences with springs will vary from different model cars.

I'm sure there are other cars that might not feel great with any type of springs no matter what as not all suspension systems are designed alike. Or there are people who may have purchased the wrong model/spring rate for their application, or didn't seat them properly when installing, or they installed springs on worn out struts, or struts went out afterwards, but blame the springs on the bad ride. Lots of possible explanations for people not having a great experience.

As I mentioned above, I've ridden in some cars (non lexus is) that felt like crap on springs (I never asked which type of springs). I Imagine lowering springs are not always a great option for every car. I was not even considering lowering springs at first due to feeling many cars on springs that felt badly, was in the market for coils at first. but after so much positive feedback from the 3IS community on these springs for our car, I decided to give them a shot. The RSR on the IS are stellar in my opinion. I can only comment on RSR on the IS as I have not tried other springs, or springs on any other car, but I imagine some of the other reputable options, like swift and OEM F-Sport lowering springs (blue) would be great too on the IS.

I've been riding on mine for nearly 9,000 miles and they still feel perfect
