Default Bilstein Sports and L-tuned Shocks: Pics side by side

This first pic shows the Bilstein (yellow) next to the L-tuned. Noteworthy is L-tuned's fully extended reach....which is shorter than the Bilstein's. As such, Bilstein will provide a longer suspension travel than L-tuned. The big BUT though is can it do that considering Bilstein's much stiffer valving rate versus L-tuned? If you use a spring with L-tuned shocks, front, the springs start at a more compressed state than if the same spring were used with Bilstein. Bilstein's construction appears more robust and of better quality than the L-tuned, judging from the outside casing.

The Bilstein rears are just a little bit more stiff than the L-tuned rears, which is unlike the fronts where the difference between the Bilstein and L-tuned is overwhelming.

Now, get this. the L-tuned rears have a longer fully-extended reach than the Bilstein. This is a complete opposite from the story up front.

Yes I changed to L-tuned for a little bit more ride comfort.

how does it ride with the l-tuned compared to the bilstien?

Were the bilstien stiffer?

Did you feel more bumps with the bilstien?

Short answers-- yes and yes. I had extensive reviews here a while back. Use advanced search for my postings under GS suspension.

thanks, i read some of your old msg's on suspension. It sounds like with the bilstien shocks, i will feel more bumps since i don't have stock springs (i have l-sportlines). I have been considering bilstien shocks or new coils since coils are rebuildable, but good luck getting the part from japan at a reasonable price.

I was told my SSR's were rebuildable 3 piece wheels, but it was more than a cost of a new wheel to rebuild them since it can only be done by SSR Japan.
