Default Guide for front lower ball joint?

Looking to replace my front lower ball joints soon. Anyone have a guide? There's a CL blog post but it seems to differ significantly from what I had in mind. From what I can see, the front lower ball joint and tie rod end assembly are available as a single unit. Is it as simple as bolting it in?

It's pretty much a bolt in. The RWD LB assembly has the tie rods outer ball joint but not the tie rod itself.

You can use press, a hammer or a pickle fork to separate the tie rod from the joint.

Why are you replacing them on a 2012?
