Default Suspension Issues

Hi All,

Bought a used 2015 Is250 almost a year ago, today after an Oil Change I mentioned a knocking noise when I brake in the right front of the car.

Mechanic says "yeap your suspension is wrecked" You need new control arms, struts and strut mounts. I thought he was joking, He said he was very serious.

How can a vehicle with less than 45K, have this many suspension components fail? Is he trying to take me for a ride? Should I take it to Lexus to check out see if anything can be done under warranty? it just seems odd.

Unless you crashed it, that's next to impossible. That's hard to diagnose over the internet but i'd start by checking to see if everything is tight. Could be a worn bushing, particularly if it's when you brake. Quite possibly the control arm bushing if it's that bad, if it happens during sharp brake application. Take a video of it and post it. Can be a couple other things, mount is one. But it wouldn't be everything at once. he just wants to make money.
