Brake popping/clicking
hello all, recently my brakes have been popping/clicking and it’s been getting annoying. I read on the GS boards that there are fit kits for this as it is a known problem. However, I can’t find the part number. Would anyone happen to have it? Or would anyone know if I can just replace the shims with any brand to correct this noise? Thanks for your help. My car is an IS350 2006 and I replaced the brakes about 2 years ago with no problems until now.

Yes, you'll want to look into a new brake hardware kit. Shims, not so much; but those hardware items that are sprung to keep the pads located where they need to be, need to be replaced over time. Otherwise looseness, odd feedback in the pedal, and noises start to occur.

I just placed an order from RockAuto the BECK/ARNLEY 0841970 (084-1970). As I'm experiencing popping noises recently. I'll report back one installed if it made a difference. Last brake pad set installed the Raybestos hardware didn't fit that came with the pads. I'm still using the OEM hardware at 78k they are severely beat up. Hopefully it solves my annoying popping/clicking noises.
Received, and installed the new hardware. It's exactly the same as OEM. The popping was due to my upper control arm being a little loose.
My problem is now solved for the time being.

What ultimately fixed my issue was the upper control arm was loose. At first I thought it could be the brakes popping. It was more pronounced when backing out of my driveway. Then when turn left or right at stop signs. Since I was applying the brakes. My first instinct was the brake issues. What's wierd it would do it also pop a little while stationary.
You can get a long 14mm wrench to check. I have an AWD so it's pretty high wheel gap to do this for me. I checked the body bolts and they where loose. I tightened them up, and I haven't had a problem since.
