Default BC Racing / Spring Rate ?

What is a good spring rate to have for a good stiff setup, daily driving, very low car, talking stanced almost VIP fitment.

Roads arn't great, but there not to bad.

Coilovers Im purchasing: http://www.bc-racing.co.uk/applicati...type-rs-3.html

But offer different spring rates..

Car is an IS220d, RWD roughly same as a IS250.

I've read a lot of differing opinions on spring rates when I was buying my BCR coilovers. Some people have them at 12k/10k and are perfectly comfortable and others have 14k/12k and say the same. I don't recall what spring rates people used on VIP slammed cars but the rule of thumb was higher in spring rate the lower you get to the ground to prevent bottoming out. Members have also opted for the "swift" spring upgrade due to them having more consistent spring rate discrepancy as opposed to the springs that come with the coilovers. I have only lowered my car 1.5 and 1 inch front/back and am on 10k/8k with dampening adjustments set in the middle and it has retained much of the stock comfort with a bit of firmness

Since I have ZERO interest in the VIP movement but have BC coilovers, I can tell you that 12 or 14k will not be enough for you. Best start by looking at 16k and up. But the best advise I can give is to contact a vendor on CL that offers BCRs and ask for their opinion.

Interesting, I thought anything above 12k would be headed more track specific? I'm not going all VIP with the cambered out rears, but I am planning on putting it down alot, but want to attain a very high stiffness. I can't recall the spring rate in a previous car I had in 2006, but they were H&R coilovers and you couldn't push the front of the car down at all it was so stiff..

Not to up on the whole math / spring rates when it comes down to it. Want to get it right first time without having to opt for a different spring rate again.

I would talk with a vendor about the specifics of your car to see what they think. I'd be leaning towards 16k/14k just from what you've posted here.
