Default Brake Rotor Failure

Hey Guys,

Tonight one of my front brake rotors completely failed and snapped into pieces.

The front left driver side brake rotor on my 14' IS350 FSport RWD rotor gave up after 2 pumps of the brakes.

Lots of metal shavings all over the wheel and a loud clanging, dragging sound as i limped into the driveway from the main road.

Thankfully the road was clear and I didnt have far to go when the rotor snapped. Will post pics when available.

Dang, you drive it hard? OEM rotors? It might be replaceable under warranty.

Have heard stories but never firsthand. Sounds like you avoided a potential catastrophe.

I drive fairly hard, a lot of Sport+ mode driving and manual mode gear changes but nothing like WOT all the time.

OEM rotors, OEM calipers, OEM, pads, OEM brake lines, OEM fluid.

I havent had to change out the pads nor any brake work in the 15,000 miles I've been driving.

Do you think it's possible that Lexus will cover this failure? I'd rather get this fixed and everything checked out before even thinking about sitting around for warranty claims and yada yada.

One of my best friends and his brother came over today and swapped out the pads and rotors for me.

The OEM rotor literally broke around the hub sitting part.

Until this happened to me last week, I had never heard of this type of brake rotor failure in my life.

The new ones are on and pics will follow once she's cleaned up and whatnot.

Some insane stuff.

From where it broke it could be a warranty issue, but it all depends on how the vehicle was used.

I can't believe this happened to an OEM rotor. Wow
