Default Squeeeeeeaaaaal!!!!!

Well my 2006 Lexus IS350 has the dread brake squeal when coming to a stop. I have already taken the pads out and cleaned them then put on anti brake squeal. That helped for a bit but it is getting worse again.

I should mention, that the brakes were done not long before I got the car (few months back). Pretty sure they are not OEM (very minimal dust on my wheels) and were obviously not done by a dealer because the rotors were on the wrong side.

My first question, has anyone managed to get rid of the squeal without buying the anti squeal shim kit? If so, what did the trick?

If not, does anyone know a cheap place to get the shims, other than sewell (Canadian shipping is brutal).

Thanks!

The shim kit should be a pretty small box. How much is the shipping? You might have to bite the bullet and get them from the local dealer (might be cheaper than shipping plus customs plus brokerage).

Well apparently they are only $32.00 retail price at my local dealer. Was expecting a lot more, since I am in Canada.

I'll follow up later and let you guys know if it took care of the squealing.

The part is cheaper in Canada than in the USA though.

Put the shims in today, so far so good. Fingers crossed that it stays quiet.
