OEM VS KYB struts?
I have a 99 GS3 and my struts are blown. I need some opinions on the ride quality of stock struts vs KYB since the stock struts are actually cheaper i was wondering if KYB would be betteR? any and all opinions appreciated, thanks.

generally speaking a possible 5% stiffer. Not really noticeable from my experience in the past(other vehicles, and also some simple certif. courses offered by Monroe years back ). If its a big difference in price, go with the stock setup
-(I would not be surprised if they are the KYB's...majority of the toyota and lexus struts are manufactured by tokico and KYB).
If the KYB's(KaYaBa) you are looking at are from the Gear Climb, SR, or SS(I don't even think these are offered for the GS.) line of their overseas struts then you can definitely believe there is a significant difference over stock. Some compression and rebound rates are 125% - 175% higher than the stock tockico's and KYBs from toyota/ lexus.

Same manufacture but valved differently.
I didn't like my ride quality with the KYB and stock springs. Over bad road, you can really tell the shocks weren't designed for the stock spring rate. It's not bone crushing or anything, but it is noticeably stiffer. On most other forums I've been on, everyone feels the KYB GR-2s are close to stock, but on Clublexus, many ES and LS owners feel the KYBs are not really cushy.
