Default 92-96 vs 97-00 oem struts

I searched, but was unable to find out if there was a difference between the 92-96 and 97-00 oem struts. The earlier model struts are significantly more expensive than the later models struts, so I was wondering if I could/should just get the later model struts for my 93. I'm not trying to drop the car at all; I just want some new struts that will ride smoothly, so if anyone has any suggestions for smooth after-market struts that would be great as well.

Thanks!

They are all interchangeable as far as the shocks go.
