First time I've seen mention of needing to grind a caliper to fit.

Dumb question, but are you certain you have the calipers on the correct side?

Also re; dust shields. the supra ones fit and are pretty cheap direct from a local Toyota dealer

Grinding that little corner off has always been part of the instructions, otherwise the caliper can't rotate into place for both bolts to line up. I think a few people have reported getting lucky with it clearing, but it's normal to have to grind.

I just made relief cuts in the dust covers and opened them up to clear the bigger LS calipers.

Yes they were as they were labeled L and R. Also others made the mounting hole bigger on the knuckle, but instead of ****ing with the mounting hole we realized its only a couple mm off due to the fact that the caliper hits where i circled. I appreciate that information on dust shields will look into em. Pictures below for reference on where it hit.
