Bad Strut Bearing?
My 98 GS400 makes sort of a short croaning/creaking sound if I stop quickly or backup into my inclinded drive way. I had the upper and lower control arms done about 4 years ago.
I read that sometime the "bearings" in the top of the strut go bad sometimes. Is there a way to tell?

^^^lol my guess... NOT! I had this issue as well and my vehicle has 210k on it. The strut top bearings wear out and do make a pop type noise ,but that is usually with going over bumps in the road. The reverse noise 1 time brake engagement pop was from my brake pad shims and the small metal brakets that sit inside the brake bracket. Those move cause the brake pads to pop in a sense. It would also be good to lubricate the sway bar bushing with some grease cause those rub after some time. Lexus sells the updated shim kit and should fix the issue.
