Default Steering Vibration

I've had mild steering wheel vibration at speeds ~65 ever since I purchased my 99 GS4. The car has the OE 16" rims with the Michelin Pilots. Over time, the vibration got worse, despite having the tires rotated regularly & balanced. The porblem worsened when I put the L-Tuned shocks, springs, & ECU on. One dealer told me the tires were incorrectly balanced, but refused to check them out, because I had Big-O do the balancing. Big-O later rebalanced them for free, but the vibration did not go away.

Now with 39.3k miles on the tires (they are due for replacement), the steering wheel vibrates badly enough to be embarassing at certain speeds on the freeway.

I thought I read a post about tightening up the steering box(?) once, but am wondering if this could be a suspension issue or a steering issue. I plan on taking it to the dealer after I get my new tires installed if the problems persist, but am concerned they will dismiss this as a balance problem.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks.

If you have balancing problem, tighten up the pretensioner on steering rack will not help. Get some new tires and balance them on Hunter GPS9700 balancer.

yup, i have the same problem too, it's the tires, and the only way to correct it is new tires and balancing using a good machine. no other way to fix it

Yes the Hunter 9700 is the best balancer out there today, it has the road force analyst. That thing does wonders for after market rims and tire (ie. 20 inch rims )

Default Vibration

So is vibration gone after the Hunter alignment.
What is the problem if you see your passenger seat vibrating in the sun?
