Default AWD CV boot issue

Okay so the day has come, after lowering the car for a year and numerous time of NYC trips, the driver side decided to leak.
So here, have a pic

Now the question is:
What do I need?
Can anyone refer the part number on sewell?
This car is delivered on 7/5/06 so does that mean this won't be covered in the powertrain warranty anymore?

Thank you

ps. the boot is not ripped, no clicking/clunking.... etc just this

damn, that's unfortunate. I don't know the answer to your questions, but update this thread with what you find for future reference please

How low did you go? I'm scared to get coils for my AWD now...

Right there with you. If I do decide to lower, I may just go F-Sport shocks and springs to avoid this kind of issue.

To the OP, I'm not sure of the part number too. If you have some time, you should comb through Sewell Parts to see if you can find the part you're looking for.

what is a CV joint, and why does it need a boot?
(courtesy of wikipedia)

front drive shaft, passenger side:

unless you need to replace both drive shafts - which are $500+ a pop, you'll need to replace the CV boots, which are ~$100 a pop. mind you, this is parts only, and YMMV w/ labor.

also, looks like they also come with the grease you put into the CV boot - the same grease that's leaking out of IS250TW's CV boot.

Thanks.... So what I need might be 43420 (the whole assembly) ?
But then when i turned the wheel the boot is okay... not ripped or damaged... but just this part leaking this grease
So is it possible to just refill the grease? (I know it might not be possible but id ask anyways... lol)
Might clean it up and see the leakage next time when i get access under the car..

Thanks again

i searched the forums, and some people bought the rebuild kit from mylexparts.com

Link to the specific section here:http://www.mylparts.com/parts/2006/L...20DRIVE%20AXLE

Idk what you exactly need though. It says you can buy either the inner, outer, or both inner and outer boots?

the CV boot serves two functions: keeps the grease inside to keep the CV joint lubricated, and keeps dirt and other contaminants out of the CV joint to prevent unwanted wear (and eventually, premature failure).

so, if your CV boots are torn, you'll need 04438G and 04438J. both look like the outer CV boots.

however, if there's signs of leaking grease (as in your pic), and you are absolutely sure your CV boot is not torn, then the next point of failure may be the clamp on the CV boot.

either way, i would have this looked at immediately. taking care of a leaky CV boot and replacing it with fresh grease is cheap; replacing an entire drive shaft isn't.

04438G and 04438J are the RH and LH inner CV boots for the AWD.

04438F and 04438H are the inner and outer CV boots. The outers cannot be replaced without disassembling the inners, so they do not sell them separately.
