Default BBK Prep. Opinions

I need to replace one of my calipers which I think seizes every now and then, and I want to upgrade the brakes.

I am planning on getting the following and having my friend who is a Toyota tech help me out with the LS400 swap on the front.

1 x Set of LS400 Calipers (hopefully cheaper than the ones listed here)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PULL-OFF-FRO...4ac3a8&vxp=mtr

2 x LS400 Caliper Pin

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Better-Brake...c22cc5&vxp=mtr

1 x SC300 Steel Braided hose set

http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOYOTA-SURPA...item2324e9a63b

1 x LS400 Front Slotted Rotors and Ceramic Pads

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEXUS-LS400-...52e6cf&vxp=mtr

2X Hardware - Do I need this?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Carlson-1336...cd56a7&vxp=mtr

I have 18's, and I think I should be OK as far as fitment. Is there a definitive way to tell whether they will fit? A measurement I can make to tell whether my wheels will have enough clearance?

Am I missing any hardware to complete the job?

Bump. No love or opinions? This would be my first foray into this kind of work and id like to get everything nailed down before I start.

No need to buy shim hardware or pins. Most LS400 calipers already come with that stuff including the ones being sold in the auction. The only thing you are missing is OEM LS400 caliper mounting bolts.

Use the search function and you will understand why. There are about a hundred threads about LS400 caliper upgrades.

I looked around a bunch but I struggled to find a definitive list of what I needed to get into this mod. And since my buddies will be helping me I wanted to be 100% sure I had everything before we started. Nothing worse than tearing stuff off and them realizing you need some obscure piece that'll take three days to get there. I'm going to use some of the other threads as my guide. Plus hopefully mY Toyota tech buddy can help.

Cut down your SC3/4 calipers bolts for the LS4 calipers. much easier and faster than trying to get the actual LS bolts... Worked for me just fine.

Or you can use a couple washers on each bolt. Even faster and easier than cutting them.

Or buy the (4) caliper bolts new from Toyota. I paid $1.74 each for mine. Here is the part number:
90080-10298

take it from me. as i actually just did this upgrade this weekend.

get the capilars from autozone. bring in your old ones and get some fresh minty remans for less than 160 for the pair.

then as one jay said. use 2 thin washers on the top mounting bolts on each side only. i used the stock sc400 mounting bolts with no problem. i changed the brake lines and rotors all around. then give it a good quality bleed.

now here's the kicker. you need to make sure the offset on any wheel you choose will clear these brakes as they are really big in the front(iam using stock mk4 wheels).

Ive had both setup. Mkiv ones feel so much better. Initial bite, pedal pressure, firmness, no doubt go Mkiv. Got my one reman from napa for only $85 and it looked brand new. Even had supra logo freshly painted on it. Weaver pads from autozone and directional rotors from napa.
