Default Time to replace my struts....what to do....

Its that time we all love. Time to replace my struts. Everything is OEM now, springs still are good so can get away with just getting new struts. Don't waste your time telling me to get coilovers, not going to happen where I live.

Currently I am thinking of getting Bilstein Sports, who else makes good stuff for this car, I want a firmer sportier strut but I dont want super stiff

I would go to Sewell and get the stock replacements if you have stock springs.

And yes, coilovers was going to be my #1 recommendation, lol.

Go with beltein HD it is the perfect compromise. Much better handling but no harsh ride. I hear the sports are very stiff. I put the hd in mine and I am extremely happy. Takes out the floaty feel and corners much better. It also has two height settings so you can lower your car about 3/4 of an inch if you wish

If you want something firmer with stock springs, get KYB GR2's. They won't break the bank and should give you a sportier ride. Bilstein sports are good with lowering springs, and the HD's cost more then the sports. I'm currently running stock springs with the KYB GR2's and love the ride...

I went through this a few months back. From my searching the Billstein HDs sounded like the one to get, saw a few reports that the sports were too firm. KYBs are also a good option, a little softer than the HDs but slightly firmer than stock.
However I was also looking for a subtle drop. Decided I wanted springs too. And when adding up the $$ -> ended up w/ coilovers

Coilovers or Airbags.

I saved mine in a word document so I don't have to retype, lol.

The problem with a spring/shock combo is that you're going to have to buy new springs and new shocks to handle the springs. OEM suspension will blow fairly quick if you're going to put lowering springs on them. Also unless you're doing all the labor yourself you have to think about the cost to get the springs put on the shocks and then them being re-installed on your car. You're easily hitting the 800-1k mark for a shock/spring combo which isn't even worth it.

You might as well buy some Megan EZ coils and call it a day. $600 shipped then throw them on yourself, flip your OEM suspension for $50-100. Megan EZ's ride fine. Close to stock. If you want handling improvement buy some TRD Sways. You can get them from Sewell Lexus with CL discount for under $500.

User error.

Whether he's lowering or not though my post is still valuable.

In the end you'll be spending more to buy OEM shocks and have them installed, may as well buy some Megan EZ coilovers and install them yourself.

So like a moron I forgot to check this thread and bought a set of sports for 469 shipped. I still can return them (ajusa.com) and pay a little more and get the HD and use my stock springs.

Other option...Buy Tein h Tech, from what my research says it will lower it very slightly (1") ( not really trying to lower it ) and use the sports....How will it ride? I live in Boston and probably go over 200 patched potholes a day.

If you want the smoothest ride then go with the stock ones from Sewell if you want more dampening but still a smooth ride (but not as smooth as stock) belstein hd
