slightly different diameter too

btw, vvt-i, $300 is for the front only..
for the record, so what's the diameter of the trd race sways? now i know the street one is 31 front and 16 rear.

and it's weird why they don't just make the rear solid as well...

I wonder too why both set has one solid and one hollow. I am not sure about diameter but does that mean the rear sportivo is beefier than the rear race?

not really, it's a lot of math and physics mechanics when they design it. the sportivo rear is 16mm solid, but the trd race rear is 19mm hollow.

in general the beefier the sways are, they better the handling and how it holds the car flat. however, too thick the sways you can easily lose control of the car once you go "over" the limit.

it could well be the case that the hollow 19mm has a stronger force than the 16mm, i wouldn't be surprised. moreover, the stronger the rear compared to the front, the easier it is for you to tail spin your car. everyone knows how easy it's to skid the rear of our cars. i bet that's why the front sways are so much thicker than the rear

hope this helps

I was just wondering since I already have the race sways installed. The rear is still a little touchy around corners.

touchy you mean not sticking to the ground? say when you make a right the rear right still got tuck up?

Default Please explain

Gents-

Could someone kindly explain the benefit of installing a front and rear sway bar?? In addition can someone do it in lay man's terms?? Brief examples of how the car handles with out sways, then the difference in handling when the sways are installed??

Pro's and Con's for a rookie-

Thanks-

Doug

umm, in short, the sways help to hold the left and right suspension together, so when you are making turns, the car will try to stay flat on the ground.

for example, imagine you making a hard right. during the turn your car will seem to have tilted left, meaning the right wheels will leave the ground, right? that's bad handling coz' you lose the grip from your right tires and the car tends to slide out more easily.

a perfect turn would be even at high speed the car stays flat and the right tires still grip to the ground perfectly. that's where sways comes in. it holds the left and right suspension, so when you are making the same right turn, the bar till try to hold the right wheel together and stay it on the ground.

the gs4 already has stock sways. however, as you might have guessed, the thicker and stronger (solid vs hollow) the sways, the better their ability to hold the suspension together.

however, having too thick of a car would make the car too hard to control, and would easy tail spin when making really fast turns. that's why designing sways is a pretty big thing just like making springs, etc...
