its a rod end(heim joint). a lot of offroad people swap the stock balljoint style tie rod out. its one of the first modifications due to the strength and how easily available they are. those look to have a spacer that brings the tie rod lower down to make a better angle to combat bump steer on lowered cars. that same spacer looks to have the correct degree machined into it to properly seat into a stock spindle location.
BUT, you could just as easily drill out the natural taper of the spindle and use a grade 8 bolt with correct spacers to provide the same affect. Hex style tie rod sleeves that are pre-threaded to just about any length and diameter can be had for very cheap. <10$ each. so my thoughts; get crative, measure stock tie rod ends, buy the correct length 6160 hex sleeve($10x2), buy 2 Heavy Duty chromoly heims w/jam nuts(40-50$x2), some grade 8 bolts(dont skimp on these). drill out your spindle, find a spacer that properly puts the heim at the correct distance away from the spindle. get an alignment. enjoy your new adjustable tie rod ends. =]

15mm is a "safe" size. dont forget to take into account the width of the blade. the max size all is dependant on your wheel size/offset due to the wheel coming in contact with the control arm/sway bar. im going to tackle this myself. put a real nice bevel on the section, a gusset and a steering stop would also be advisable.

Both Alex from Battle Version and Dan and Dave from Parts Shop MAX USA are on the forum. Not much more info to give out though. Like stated before, they don't weld on stops because of wheel sizes. As far as the amount of material removed, I doubt they would openly tell you because that's not economical on their part. I'd much rather have them do it that just a random fabricator. These guys have the experience over the years with this. May be hard to get in touch with Alex though as the new Formula D season should be starting soon. I'll talk to him next time we play MW3.
