Default Please help, Wheel question

Today I met up with somebody to buy his wheels. I'm not to familiar with wheel fitments. I just assumed if the Bolt pattern is the same most likely it should fit. His wheels were the same bolt pattern. 19" RH. I have an 09 is350 and I believe the size is...
Bolt Pattern: 5x114.3, Center Bore: 60.1, Hardware:12x1.50 Lug
Offset:
Front: 33-50mm
Rear: 38-50mm

When we got to Les Schwab, the guy tried to put one rim on in the front and it didnt fit due to something about the calipers being too big. He said something about shaving the calipers or using spacers. To be honest, I didnt want to do anything like that and what do spacers do? What options do I have? The wheel fit, it just couldnt go all the way in. Please give me advice on what I should do besides look for other rims. Thank you.
