Default Need some input.

I've got a 98GS300 with around 40,000 miles on it. It seems like the car hits bumps kinda hard. Tires are factory with normal psi. It just feels like the car hits bumps hard. I feel it on the steering wheel. Does anyone else feel this? Is there anything that can be done to minimize it.

Thanks,
Pete

Your stock shocks may have given it up, even with only 40k on them. They don't have to leak to be worn out. Now you've got a great excuse to L-Tune your suspension!

I wonder if it could be my steering rack. What do you think? I doubt it's the struts. Car still handles pretty good.

There are control arm bushings which may need replacement also.

There are other threads on the subject, but IMHO the GS has the strangest combination of soft handling yet hard transmission of bumps to the driver [steering, butt-O'meter]. I think Lexus could/should have done a better job with the stock set-up.

Are you the original owner? If so, have you noticed a specific degradation in ride/bump transmission? If you purchased it used it sounds like the "stock" ride.
