Default VSC Reprogam

Has anyone had to reprogram the VSC (2001 GS300) after a wheel alignment? Shop just called and said VSC may need reprogramming by the dealer if they proceed with a wheel alignment. Seems odd, since a wheel alignment is pretty standard stuff.

The shop is correct when replacing or repairing steering related parts, Lexus has a TSB for this. Hopefully this helps.

The TSB states:

"The following information is intended to clarify the repair manual procedures for Zero Point Calibration and sensor check after the replacement of any of the following components or procedures.

* Vehicle Stability Control Computer
* Steering Angle Sensor
* Yaw Rate Sensor
* Deceleration Sensor
* After Performing an Alignment

Zero Point calibration of the above sensors must also be performed when replacing or repairing steering related parts. These steps are necessary for the correct and accurate repair of VSC related systems.

after any alignments done on newer cars with stability control, u must reset the steering angle sensor. many shops dont do this because it requires a scantool/hunter tool to reset.

Thanks for the information, esp. the TSB rcyo1. Would never have guessed. The shop did the alignment and said the reprogram wouldn't be necessary since the VSC trouble light did not come on (?). Think I'll call the dealer to verify. Thanks again.
