Default HELP ASAP: Front wheel bearing replacement

00 GS400.

Doing ball joints, caster bushing, and wheel bearing today and was stuck on the wheel bearing replacement. I used the search button and found these two posts that's closest to what i need but still unsure.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...p-by-step.html

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...placement.html

Where I'm at right now: I just removed dust cover, big hub nut, and sensor ring. I'm assuming I'm at the point where I need to press it out? Any other tricks/steps before it needs to be press out?

thanks in advance.

Not sure if this will help, but i figured it couldn't hurt.

(I have no idea why the images in the PDF came out as negatives)

Yeah best bet would be to take it to an auto repair shop, like $50 per side to get them replaced and pressed in.

Took it to shop. They said $230 total. Dude end up taking $200 for labor. He said its $85/hr labor. I'm sure his price INCLUDES taking the spindle assembly off the car but I didn't bring the car in. I took both spindle sides to the shop. I guess you could say I got rip off a bit but oh well, I can live with that. He took $30 off anyways but next time if I TAKE a part in, I'm gonna asking for discount because its off the car already.

Pep boys charges $40 or so per side to do the bearings/hub. That's if you bring them the parts.

I have a receipt for this somewhere, but at $230 -- you deft' got ripped.

I took my hub assembly to a machine shop last month and was charged $85 per side to remove and replace. I provided all parts.

I have an older GS then yours, so I am curious what kind of issues you were having with your front bearings to warrant a replacement? I know miles and aggressive suspension are probably more of a factor for wear but just wondering what your bearings were doing.

Thanks.

My car was having lots "humming" noise when slowing down. After replacing both front front wheel bearing it was decently quiet for about 2weeks than i'm starting to hear it again but than that wasn't my MAIN reason for replacing front wheel bearings. I'm having hwy shakes(sometimes ONLY, weird) and I CANNOT identify the problem. Next thing I'm replacing is my Caster bushing, thats if I can loosen those 4 bolts holding the arm.
