IS250 to 350 Caliper Upgrade... Whats needed?
#31
I think my mechanic meant the pad was bigger than the rotor; thus, not fully utilizing the surface of the rotor. He didn't say how much it didn't cover... this is something I wish I had asked...

Thanks for the photo reference. I'll show it to him and see what he says. In theory it should work.. and if it does, this is the missing piece for the caliper upgrade for IS250 AWDs.

IS350 09-12 USA RWD and 11-12 AWD use the same rotors.
IS350 06-08 USA RWD and 06-12 Canada RWD use the same rotors, but these are not the same as the AWD.

Hi Jeff,
I have a 2010 IS250 RWD and will be upgrading to IS350 BBK.
1. How do I know which year of IS350 calipers are mine? The sale didn't mention the year or if it's for RWD. - Doh!!!!
2. Are the rotor size based on caliper or the hub? In other words, if my IS350 brake are from 2006, should I get rotors based on the 2006 (brakes) or 2010 (my model year)?
I notice that there are 2 different rotor models based on year of IS350 on http://ebcrotors.com/p-223-ebc-sport-rotors.aspx :
2010 IS350
Part Number: GD7529
■Front Rotor Diameter: 13.1"
2006 IS350
Part Number: GD7389
■Front Rotor Diameter: 13.1"

Any year or model IS350 calipers will work, they're all the same 06-12.
As for the rotors, it doesn't matter on the RWD, any IS350 rotor will work. Only if you had an AWD would it make a difference. The difference is shape of the cooling vanes where the rotor meets the hub, both styles fit fine on a RWD.
