Simply put, dampening is an aid to how the strut handles bumps, stiffer or softer ride qualities.
As far as adjustments, there's usually ***** or screws that can be turned either on the top of the strut or the bottom. Not 100% sure on the KYB's though.
Ok great thanks. Im pretty sure though that the G2s are adjustable though, on a website that sells them, they mention that is has that quality. Ill check though.
