This is what happened to me several years ago. Ordered sways from TRD for my S/C MR2 - they did not fit. They referred me to ADDCO, as they had made the bars. ADDCO no longer made the bar for the S/C, and made me one after I sent them the stock bar for a template. This was about '94. The car was mid-engine with almost perfectly neutral handling after the ADDCO bars ( and Koni sport shocks). So, I think they would likely be interested in a group buy for a special item they do not currently make.

Sure there are probably a million ways to make a sway (with different properties), but I am sure that there is more than one company out there that could make as good (or better) part, especially considering that TRD outsources the manufacturing, if I heard the rep correctly. It is the tuning, I think, that separates the men from the boys.

The anti-roll (sway) bars are from TRD Japan, and the brand name is Technocraft. These are genuine Japanese parts from TRD Japan, in contrast with TRD USA which outsources (i.e. grill), retags (TTE) parts for the L-Tuned brand. TRD Japan probably performed some decent R&D because Toyota manufacturing is over there, but I don't know if TRD Japan oursources their products. For TRD Japan to put their name on it, they would assure it's maufactured to their specs and provide the means to test them. It would be great if TOMs made these bars also.

Unless they specialize in Toyota/Lexus, the extent of most smaller maufacturers is borrow a customer's car and perform the R&D. They would not spend the time or resources like TRD Japan. I guess you can say I also have faith in TRD Japan over other manufacturers.

Also, the bushings included with the TRD bars fit exactly, in contrast with those of the Intrax that appeared to be generic.

As far as I can see, the TRD sways were thicker wall tubing with the same OD. So the stock bars should be able to be used as a template to make stiffer units. There are enough stock sways floating around people on this board to make them usable if we need to find someone to make the doggoned things.
Maybe we could just fill stock ones with concrete

Nah, just drill and tap them for air fittings. Then you can pump them up to make them as stiff as you want....

Here's the official TRD (Japan) link;

Also, check out the TRD Sportivo Suspension Set for the Aristo (GS), which includes the sway bars;

I have some info that you people might be interested in!

There will be some new sway bars on the market in a month or so, around $500 for the complete set...adjustable rear bar and specific bushings unlike the Intrax ones.

Who's the manufacturer? Are they in US, Japan?

How do you know about this?

It's a new company that will be producing Lexus-only performance parts. The prototypes have already been in testing for quite a few months now, and I guess they're supposed to be available soon.

The quality is pretty good from what I've seen.
