Question Break questions, please help

I have installed slotted Brembo rotors with TRD brake pads. Like the feel, I just breaking them in so did not do any crazy stops yet. The slotted rotors do grind a lot of dust, hopefully just in the beginning
My questions:
TRD pads are very sticky and soft, what is the good alternative to use with slotted rotors, where to buy? I would like to have something harder.
My break pedal still has a lot of ?free? way before brakes start working. How to minimize that? I would like to press brake pedal and in about half of the inch of movement brakes start pumping.

bump....

anybody?

upgraded brake lines will improve pedal feel as far as travel and "hardness" feel, but won't actually improve braking worth a penny. you think the trd's are too soft and dusty? i'm getting some this week

I love them, just don't push them too hard in the begining.
