Default whats a good drop on 19's?

i just got 19's and i want to know what the best drop that will make the car at an even height and give a one to two finger gap.
I want the car to still drive as smooth as it can.
H&R Springs and bilstein shocks?
L-tuned?
L-sportline?
Tein HA coilovers?

Show me some pictures of 19's and the suspension set ups. Any help would be good!

I'm having a problem finding a shop to install coil overs. Any local shops? Also, does anyone know if the suspension set ups come with the cams for the new alignment i'll need??

Thanks.

First determine your budget. Second, how harsh of a ride can you stand?

If you want to be economical, the H&R springs w/ 1.5" drop look and ride really nice with 19's and stock shocks, but you will place more of a load on the stock shocks over time. The opposite extreme would be the coilovers. You'll get a more aggressive stance & some flexibility in terms of adjusting the stiffness.

I'm waiting for someone to get the Tein setup using their new electronic suspension unit that allows you to electronically adjust the coilovers from inside the vehicle.

The EDFC is what controls the coilovers...but it's only to control the DAMPENING. Nothing else. You must still adjust the height of the coilovers the same way.

I have the FLEX and EDFC and I'm just waiting to have them installed...my prefered installer has a busy schedule...

Actually, he offered to do them today (Saturday) but I'm waiting to get some more parts in so he can install the coilovers and the new parts all at one time...

what do you think would have the smoothest ride:

H&R Springs and bilstein shocks? 1.4 1.3 drop
L-tuned? 1"
L-sportline? 1.5
Tein HA coilovers? adj, 3.3 4.4

Soft and smooth are not equivalents, but IMHO I would select the first choice (H&R spring/ Bilstein shocks or Eibach springs & Bilstein Shocks). I personally think the Eibach sprins give a slightly better ride in those spirited driving situations.

Of course you have more expensive suspension setup that will yield a better ride, but for the purposes of this converstion, those options were elimated to keep cost reasonable. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Thanks.

What kind of gap will i get with H&R spring/ Bilstein shocks on 19's?

Got a picture of the gaps?

and for the price of H&R spring/ Bilstein shocks wouldn't it be worth the 300 more on tein ha to fit 19's without a gap? or will the ride really suffer, really rough and stiff, with HA's?

I would recommend getting coilovers, it will give you the best look. Here's a pic of a car with 19" and H&R setup, unfortunately, I can't remember who's car this is, but he's a CL member.

jb, go with the Tein CS setup. This(on its max setting) combined with 19" wheels/tires will give you total coverage of the fender over the wheels(front & rear) and still maintain a Comfort ride. My friend has them on his GS and it rides very good(much better than Tein Ha's) and looks great.

Yes, the HA's are not the most comfortable coilovers. The CS is WAY better in terms of comformt and you STILL get the great handling and the height adjustability. However, the CS's can only do a 1.4" and 2" lowering job (front/rear)...this may not be enough for some people (like me).

The next step, and personally, I think the best setup, is to get the Tein FLEX. It offers way more adjustability, offers 2 way height adjustment (shock body adjustment and spring height adjustment so that you can retain full shock travel), and it's only a tad bit stiffer than the CS's (each spring is 1kg/mm stiffer...)

Check out this thread to see the HA/CS/FLEX all fit in...
