Default Creaking Noise - Control Arm Link --Help identify this part (Update:Control Arm #2)

Managed to get my brakes replaced today and my mechanic identified the creaking noise in my car as a bad "Control Arm Link"

He said the bushing is shot on the right side and the driver side is getting pretty bad and recommends replacing both.

My searches are yielding nothing on this specific part.

Attached is the picture from the mechanic. I am looking for part #2.

Any suggestions on the best way to replace this? Can these worn bushing be replaced without buying the whole part?

Any suggestions on a site to buy this on? I checked out @utopartswarehouse and could only find this.

That is the caster arm bushing right? You need a press tool to get out the bushing..

You can try to find the control arm bushing kit from Daizen (make sure you order the right one...it's different for 98-01 and 01-05). That's about 100 bucks if you can find it at the classifieds. Really wish I didn't sell my brand new ones...ugh.

But, read my thread I posted. 03+ have TRD equivalent bushings and the arms are 5mm thicker.

So as long as the issue is only the bushings and not the actual control arm, I can just purchase the Daizen kit and my mechanic will replace the bushing on Control Arm #2?

Is TM Engineering still the place to get them?

They are $100 plus $22 shipping

I actually found the diagram from the Sewell Lexus site with Lexus part #s.

http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/***...l=200&year=163

It is most definitely the Lower Arm #2 that I need the bushings for.

I ordered my bushings from TME about 2 weeks ago they shipped them out the very next day.

I'm currently in the process of installing my bushings, I've pretty much got the complete passenger side suspension taken all apart. It wasn't so bad but its a lot of work and a lot of bolts and screws.

Because I'm not a professional I'll be doing one side at a time I plan on using the driver side as reference when I reinstall my passenger side.

OP thats the lower control arm #2, I've heard people call it the caster arm too, the bushing you need to replace is called the caster bushing. Like others have said you can install Daizen polyurethane in that spot but you'll need a press to remove the old one and also to reinstall the new bushings.

That bushing is the very last part of the suspension you'll basically need to take it all apart. Since Daizen sells only the kit and not single bushings, you might as well get your mechanic to install all the Daizen bushings. Its like changing the water pump but not the timing belt or visversa.

I'm going to order the whole set today. I went and talked with my mechanic and he was completely unaware that changing the bushings was an option. Not surprised though, since there probably isn't a lot of people from ClubLexus strolling in there.

Since having my rotors and pads replaced yesterday, the creaking noise is more pronounced. I really hope these fix the problem.

I'm hoping I have the same luck with them shipping on time (considering it costs $22) and I'll have them replaced sometime next week and update with the results.

Ordered the Daizen Control Arm Bushings set on Friday morning (selected USPS Priority Mail for $22). I emailed TM's sales and asked if the bushing would be able to be shipped same day and mentioned I was referred to their site from ClubLexus.

Received an email Friday night that they should arrive on Monday.

Shipped in 2 days from California to Boston. Can't ask for much better service.

Should be getting them installed on Thursday.

I haven't decided if I am going to have every bushing replaced. In order to replace the caster bushings, will the other bushings be easily accessible without excessive labor?

I'm most likely going to have everything done.

Just let your mechanic do all the bushings from the kit. You need a press to get the old ones out. Do it all in one shot.. I hope this solves the issues..
