DIY Lower your AWD IS250
As I was lowering my IS250 AWD, I noticed my front shock assembly was different from the instruction on
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sus...our-isx50.html
I search but was not able to find anything on AWD so I had to try and figure it out myself. Anyways, below are instruction for IS250 AWD. Atleast for my car it was.
1. Jack up the vehicle. You will either need to put it on jack stands or have two hydrolic jacks for this DIY.
2. Remove the wheels and secure the vehicle from moving around with a block of wood or what ever.
3. Pop the hood and Remove the 3 14mm nut from the shock tower.
4. Remove the 2 10mm bolt that holds the brake fluid lines. Please see image attached.
5. Remove the 1 17mm bolt from the bottom of the shock. also pictured and circled in blue.

8. Now remove the little pin holding down the 1 17mm nut and remove the nut until it is flush with the bolt. Please see image attached circled in blue. Do not remove this nut all the way yet. Once you remove it until it is flush with the bolt, rapidly and lightly hammer the head to loosen. Once the bolt falls through the hole, remove the nut all the way.

9. All of the neccessary nut are now off of the bolts. Now you must remove the bolt from the holes. This is where you will need an additional jack if you are not putting your car on jack stands. Jack the lower control arm up and down until you can easy remove the bolt from the hole. This method helps from having to hammer and pry the bolt too much.
10. Look back at the image on the first post. Look for the red circle. This is where the shock is held down. If you lightly tap the base of it, it will come apart.
11. That's it, now you should be able to remove the Shock/Spring assembly.
12. Once the shock/spring assembly is removed, you must remove the 1 17mm nut hold the shocks to the springs.
13. Be careful when removing this nut in step 12 because the pressure of the shocks is high. You can shoot it at an empty box.
14. I laid the shock assembly on the floor, held down the base of the assembly with one foot as i'm removing the nut. Make sure you wear gloves and safety glasses.
15. Put everything back in reverse order .
16. For the rears, you can follow the link in the first post.
17. Lastly, get an alignment and you're done.

Is there any advantage to separating the spring/shock assembly from that black 'c' shaped bracket, rather than taking it out in one piece? I chose not to disassemble it, and just hammered out that 22mm bolt out of the lower control arm instead.

Hi,
Did you have to disconnect the upper control arm and knuckle attachment on the IS AWD?
It is really necessary to remove the tie rod end and the sway bar link connections? Or can the 22mm bolt be loosen with jack under the lower control arm to relieve the pressure?
So in reality, just take out the 3 nuts at the top of the shock and the 22mm bolt then it should come out?
