I don't agree that it's cheaper. I'm paying more for alignment now than I did on the SC300. It's less work for the tech but labor costs have risen.

I think he means it's cheaper on the "manufacturing" end (fewer complex parts)...

Lexus doesn't care how much you get ripped off for alignments. They only care about the cost of manufacturing. It's cheaper to manufacture without adjustments, and even better for them, the parts count is lower.

The really bad part about being an owner - if the camber or caster are not right, they expect you to replace the major pieces until the numbers are right. That's a LOT more expensive in the long run for the owner.
