The front end feels like butter now - minus the popping - but I found the popping noise with my handy dandy iphone.

I'm going to try to do this today. Does anyone have any tips on torquing these down? Any help hints are appreciated.

The four 17mm bolts on the aluminum frame were loose on my SC300, I tightened them all nearly a full turn. Creaking noise is now gone, drives better too!

Thanks for a great thread, needs to be a sticky!

Well 2 independent mechanics and 1 Toyota mechanic with no idea what the problem was. I
(with very little mechanic background) found this thread and fixed the popping noise on my 1998
LS400. Thank you so much for all the information in this thread. It was absolutely invaluable for me. The Toyota mechanic said to POSSIBLY find the problem he would need 2 hours labor at $99.00 an hour. Thanks again.

After trying to find out what my cracking sound I gave this a try. It was night and day, all the noise is now gone and the car feels solid. I have 172k Miles on my sc300 and would recommend this to anyone!!!

I just replaced my LCA bushings at work a couple weeks ago and on my way home when i hit the brake i herd a big pop noise from the driver side. i thought i left a bolt loose after the alignment. tomorrow im going to try and tighten those 10 bolts up and see what happens. i hope it will fix it

You guys need to make sure the FSM procedure was followed in the torque procedure on the LCA bolts.

Yes this is very often over looked and also a common issue with all the diy people changing out lca's. I will see if I can upload the procedure here.

This is my issue as well. 01 GS430
