Default Help me understand droppin' my GS please!

I want to lower my GS. Not gonna slam it in the weeds and it won't do anything crazy....like hit the track. Was considering coilovers versus drop kit (eibach pro kit). My shop says I need to change the struts when I do the drop. What exactly is a strut? Why wouldn't I put new shocks on when I do the drop?

This drop will be for a killer look and a nice tight ride at the same time.

Let me have it!

thanks for your help.

this question is entirely up to you.

a few things you want to think about before dropping:

what wheels/size/tires do you have?

what look are you trying to acheive?

is your car a daily driver?

For most people on this site have coilovers.
Tein/Jic/and others, these come with shocks

If you just want springs...that is an option too. But the more your on this site.you would be happier with coilovers.

trust me.

yes....I was going to go coilovers....but my shop says I don't need to go that route....they are more for performance oriented cars. I see his point...so I am trying to research it more.

The car will be driven several times a week. I will probably go staggered 19's. I feel like thats enough wheel for me....and I like having a little more tire under the car....than a bigger wheel would allow. I am doing this for looks and ride. Don't want the 4x4 look anymore. Want a nice smoothe flowing look.

thanks

1. Moved to the correct forum
2. SEARCH and just read through the suspension forum.

Strut=shock....

with that in mind, just get coilovers. i believe s/s combo really wont get you a tucked look.
