"Shim Kit" Needed For TRD Brakes?
I dopped of my car this morning for my 50k service, and my rep asked me if I wanted to reuse the "shim kit" from the factory brakes. Apparently there is a kit with a metal sleeve or something that fits in between the pad and rotor or caliper - somehting like that....
I told him I was under the impression that a kit will not be needed since the entire brake assembly is being replaced (rotors, calipers, pads, lines).
I have sent an email to SG about it, but the 3 hour time delay is against me.
Anyone here have any knowledge? I'm searching the archives as we speak.
TIA

Dexter,
What kind of wheels do you have? Is this the Full TRD set with 4 piston Caliper you are installing?
What Kind of offset on the wheel do you need to have? I am looking at the market right now for a kit that the caliper will not be too a$$ big and reguires a big offset on the wheel to clear the caliper.
Thanks

Dexter,
I don't know for sure but I think ANY brake "system" might need a shim kit and he might just be trying to see if you want to get a new one or use the one you have already. It might end up you don't need one at all but from what I've read most performance brakes use them. Sorry I couldn't give you a definitive answer. Do you notice you rarely see those around here.
"SG", what, Steve Ganz is some kind of icon now??

Hey guys.
Just spoke to SG (z: ) and he conveyed to me that I would not need the shim kit with the TRD Total Brake Kit.
Any additional questions, Steve is the man to reach.
Thanks for the inputs.
