Who did you talk to at Sewell?

I called them about a week ago and spoke with Darrel, explained to him the situation, and he said he didn't know anything about defective Daizen steering rack bushings. Darrel also said that this is the first person he's talked to about this, even though blue99GS4 had already had brought this up with him.

Let me know who you talked to so I can call them back and speak to the person who knows what's going on.

I did talked to Darrel about this specific issue. Although I didn't call them "defective". I was just asking if he had any knowledge about the I.D of the sleeves being larger compared to that of the oem. I expressed my concern about a different in dimension of what suppose to be a direct replacement part. Basically, he said that Sewell is only a distributor. If Daizen saw it fit to make them larger, it's probably ok. He did not have any idea about the different in color between patches either.

i don't understand why Daizen would see it fit to make the I.D of the sleeves larger than OEM? it doesn't make sense to me. i compared the set i just got, to the original "gold sleeved" samples, and the new batch definitely don't even compare to the quality of the old ones.

I was looking at my package from Sewell earlier today, and i noticed that the shipping label was from their "Returns Department"? Does that mean this was a return?

guys,

i have the 2nd batch and have installed them on my car since december 2007. i have had NO issues whatsoever with them and the steering is precise. the steering rack does not move at all. i'd just make sure the bolts are torqued to spec when installing them and you should be good to go.

just thought i'd share my experience with you guys.

For those with the "defective" batch, Couldn't you replace the defective sleeve with the oem sleeve that you took off the steering rack?

no, cuz the oem ones are bonded to the rubber bushings.

cmon guys, these bushings are fine. there's nothing wrong with them. if you install them and find that your wheel is not centered, just get an alignment. i did, and i found out that my caster was off anyways, so i killed 2 birds with one stone.

bought mine back in DEC 07 installed them as soon as i got them before Christmas and i have had absolutely no problems. i replaced sways and rack bushings had a line up done my steering wheel is centered and no pulling at all. if you have in a pulling issue get a line up and check for radial pull with your front tires. sometimes it the tires doing the pulling and not the front end at all. it would be worth checking into, even if your car wasn't pulling before you put the bushings in have it checked anyway. reason for this is if your OG bushings were that wore out, the car could have always had that pull to it and you just didn't notice it until the new parts was put in.

its funny how people don't really pay attention to how there car drives or performs until they install new parts or have it worked on. it almost like some people look for something to complain about. I'm not ******* anyone on this forum I'm just speaking in general as a fellow cl member, and a shop owner!!!
